Health Fitness Revolution founder and author of ReSYNC Your Life Samir Becic attended the prestigious UNICEF gala at the Post Oak Hotel on Friday, May 3rd. The black-tie gala, attended by almost 400, was able to raise more than $1 million for UNICEF’s lifesaving work and focus on bringing the community together to raise awareness of global and domestic issues that need our help.
Samir enjoyed the emceeing of his friend and TV Show host Deborah Duncan, in addition to remarks by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, who proclaimed him the city’s “Fitness Czar” in 2018.
Samir spent the evening mingling with guests, including UNICEF USA CEO Caryl Stern, who also gave a riveting speech that inspired attendees. Samir admires UNICEF’s work, including their Kid Power program, where students get active, and as they move, they unlock lifesaving nutrition that UNICEF delivers to severely malnourished children.
He was particularly impressed with Nelson Bowman’s planning and execution of the gala- which was superb!
The evening would not be possible without the support of the Albert and Margaret Alkek Foundation. Each year, the Margaret Alkek Williams Humanitarian Award commemorates the legacy of her extraordinary dedication to the health and well-being of children in Houston and around the world. As one of UNICEF’s largest fundraisers, the high profile black-tie evening has thus far raised over $4.7 million for UNICEF’s programs worldwide.
