Samir Becic is no stranger to extreme fitness challenges! Houston’s “fitness Czar” previously lived for 6 weeks wearing an extra 200 lbs weighted vest, walked 3 miles with an extra 200 lbs weight vest, and infamously ran 7 marathons in 8 weeks with a 75 lbs equivalent weighted vest on his body.
In light of the crucial social distancing the globe is partaking in as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, he’s started a new fitness challenge- to climb 22 floors of the high rise he lives in while wearing an extra 150 lbs weighted vest. Samir’s goal is to motivate people around America to stay active (and boost their immune systems in doing so) by using what they have available to them- at home- to get moving! Please DO NOT attempt this challenge at home (it’s extremely dangerous), you can always do stairs without the weight or we have a list of great at-home workouts!
Compiled data on Coronavirus (COVID-19) indicates that having a healthy immune system is paramount to combat the virus. Staying active is one of the best ways to boost the immune system along with these tips we compiled. Let’s all inspire our communities to be more active while social distancing by sharing an at-home workout video under #COVID19fit and challenging our friends and family to do that same!

Samir has a breadth of experience as a fitness expert- he was named 4 x #1 Fitness Trainer in America, taught thousands of trainers as the Fitness Director of the largest health club in America (at the time), and has appeared for years on countless TV shows, radio shows, and newspapers. The Harper Collins author of the book ReSYNC Your Life has always used his fitness challenges in the past to create awareness about the obesity epidemic happening in America. It is no secret that America has been suffering from an obesity crisis for decades. Right now, 1 in 3 Americans is obese, and 360,000 deaths annually are due to complications related to obesity. The extra weight that a third of Americans carry impairs mobility and increases fatigue, making life harder for even the simplest daily activities.
He previously sped walked 4 miles with a 200 lbs weighted vest on, making his total weight mimic a living body of over 500 lbs. 200 lbs of weighted vest is multiplied by a factor of 1.6 which equals 320 lbs. Since Samir weighs 200 lbs, combined with the weighted vest will equal a total amount of 520 lbs.
200 x 1.6 + 200 = 520
He also ran 7 marathons in 8 weeks with an extra 75 lbs in 2018.
Marathon 7 in 7 weeks wearing the equivalent of an extra 73.5lbs weighted vest is finished with my best time yet of 5:35! My journey of running weekly marathons at an obese weight in order to raise obesity awareness has been far from easy, but YOU ALL motivate me! #LAMarathon2018 pic.twitter.com/2bkugmc6i7

The challenge is dangerous, but Samir isn’t going to back down! Instead, he’s ramping it up this year by climbing 22 flights of stairs with an extra 150 lbs!
